Targets for Photogrammetry
Retro-reflective targets are an integral part of all conventional laser projection systems. During alignment, these targets are scanned by the projector and reflect the laser beam back to the projector where the target position is compared to known coordinates. The combination of all the scanned targets provides coordinate positions of the projector in space as compared to the tool or part. LPT targetless laser projection systems, such as the LPT12, are capable of using retro-reflective targets for alignment too, although their feature scanning capabilities make target use optional.
Retro-reflective targets must be in excellent condition for successful scanning and accuracy assurance, although it is not always easy to maintain them in a constant manufacturing environment. However, targets can be repaired on site if necessary; LPT has made this easier than ever to achieve with the LPT Target Repair Kit.
LPT offers tooling targets in two different heights and five different angles.
|Angle||1/2 in (12.7 mm) PN||5/16 in (7.94 mm) PN|
LPT offers a Target Starter Kit that contains 30 targets (6 of each angle). These targets come in a custom wooden box that has the capacity to hold a total of 100 targets. In addtion, this starter kit also includes one of LPT’s Target Repair Kits.
Unlike standard tooling targets, sticky targets are meant for shorter life spans, as they can be moved, stuck, and re-stuck a limited number of times. Due to this, sticky targets tend to degrade faster, but are perfect for quick or temporary jobs requiring a less costly solution.
